1. Snapdragon

Our Initial Impression of Snapdragon Was Confirmed By Our

Day On Board.

The Standard Of finish And Attention To Detail Was

Superb. We Still Cannot Believe That The Inlaid Doors Are A

Standard Item. While The Paint Work Was Some Of The Best

We Have Ever Seen.

2. Michealmas

The Joinery Here And Throughout The Rest Of The Boat Is Superb.

As Confirmed By The IWA Judges It Is The Equal Of Any You

Would Find On The Cut  Today. Once Again This Sabre

Narrow Boat Did Not Let Us Down. The Quality Inside And Out Is

Superb. Matched By Excellent Value For Money.

Sabre Narrowboats Are One Of The Companies That Have Come To

Promenince In Recent Years. They Have Gained A Reputation For

Outstanding Joinery,Attention To Detail And Care Of Their

Customers. But They Have Resisted The Temptation To Expand

Beyond Their Capabilities To Provide Individual Service To Each

Owner. In The Sabre Tradition This Is Another Magnificent Craft.

4. J-Peg         Simply Style Comment By Kevin Blick

When Every New Boat Seems To Have A Trick Or An Angle Or An

Novelty Feature, Some Times It Pays To Get Back To Basics And Test One Which

Is Quite Simply A Fine Example Of  What A Good Narrowboat Should Be.

J-Peg Was Quite Simply A Good Looking, Classy And Well Equipped

Boat, Exactly The Sort Of Craft That Many Boat Buyers Might Be Looking For,

More Importantly Typical Of What They Should Expect.

There Was A Large Number Of Bespoke Boats At Crick Whose

Hovered Around the Low To Mid £80,000 Region.

J-Peg £90,000 Comes At The Top End Of This Group Though Its

Price Is Still Below The Top End Craft.

So Depending On Your View Point, Its Either A Little Expensive Or

Something Of A Bargain.

We Will Be Inclined To The Second View.

The Quality Of Workmanship And Attention To Detail Whether That

Is Joinery Detail Like The Elaborate Door Design Or Engineering Detail Like The

Engine Mounting Is Very Impressive.

Its A Very Good Looking Boat In Its Understated Style But

Certainly A Tad Conservative Again, Depending On Your Taste That

Is Either A Good Thing Or Not:

Its Grainy And Intricately Detailed Oakwork Is

Certainly A Change From The Ubiquitous White Ash. Its A Boat

That Does The Job It Was Intended For Doing Extremely Well.

Its Well Planned, With Plenty Of Socialising Space For Friends, Good Storage, A

Useful Utility Area At The Rear And A Strong Engine And Bow Thrusters For

Relaxed Handling.

As We Said, It May Not Have Been Designed Around A Grand Piano Or The

Owners Six Pet Poodles, It Is Quite Simply A Very Good Boat That

Demanded To Be Tested.

 1. Halcyon Days

I Have Been Reviewing Boats For Canal And Riverboat For A Long Time And

Perhaps Contrary To Popular Belief I Am Rarely Impressed By Any Aspect Of

Any Boat Taken In Isolation, Preferring To Reserve My Personal Judgement

Until Much Later, When I Have Seen Everything Which Is To Be Seen On The

Boat. Yet, If First Impressions Are Anything To Go By, One Of The First Things

One Sees But Rarely Mentioned In Detail Is The External Paintwork Which, In

The Case Of Halcyon Days Can Only Be Describe As Immaculate. It Would Be

Very Remiss Not To Mention The Equally Superb Craftsmanship Employed To

Create The Internal Fitout, Where In My View, Every Unit, Surface, Edge And

Corners Are Perfectly Finished Off, It Is A Credit To Sabre Narrowboats.

2. Andromeda

Every Aspect Of The Andromeda Design And Build Has Clearly Been Well

Thought Out And It Is Easy To See That The Customers Wishes Have Been

Taken Into Account At Every Stage Of The Vessels Development.

The G & J Reeves Hull Is A Fine Example Of High Quality Fabrication

Workmanship Which Produces The Smooth Clean Lines For A Paint

Job Culminating In A Finish Which Makes A Boat Stand Out From The Crowd.

Sabre Narrowboats Have Then Gone On To Create An Interior Which Is

Warm Welcoming And Practical, Incorporating The Customers Own Ideas

And Selection Of Very Modern Appliances In Such A Way As To

Complement The More Traditional Aspects Of A Cabin Fit Out, Where

All Timber Fixed Furnishings Are Usually The Predominant Feature.

As For The Craftsmanship Involved In Producing The Timber Fixtures

   - To Be Frank, That Is No Less Than I Have Come To Expect From

                             The Sabre Team.
